Evolution Platform : On demand Cloud Connect

Evolution Platform is a cloud connectivity platform designed to provide secure, automated, and scalable access to cloud services across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. It centralizes the delivery of connectivity services and supports standardized, controlled, and efficient integration between enterprise networks and cloud resources. 

On-Demand Cloud Connect is the private connectivity service of Evolution Platform. It enables dedicated access to cloud environments without using the public internet, with the ability to provision, adjust, or scale connectivity on demand. The service is designed to support dynamic bandwidth allocation, faster service activation, and improved traffic isolation. It provides a technical foundation for secure and predictable connectivity to Cloud Avenue, with benefits such as reduced latency, better performance consistency, and stronger control over data paths and network governance. 

Key Components 

The connectivity service between Evolution Platform and Cloud Avenue is based on three main components: 

High-Performance Network Connectivity 

Resilient, high-bandwidth connectivity between Evolution Platform PoPs and Cloud Avenue datacenters. Network redundancy is provided through multiple links on each site and interconnection between both Cloud Avenue datacenters, ensuring high availability and failover capabilities. 

Evolve Console 

A web-based portal that allows customers and operators to configure connectivity services. The console interacts with Cloud Avenue through APIs to automate service provisioning and management. 

Cloud Avenue Tier-0 Gateway 

A dedicated Tier-0 (T0) Gateway within Cloud Avenue acts as the termination point for connections provisioned from the Evolve Console. It provides routing and connectivity between Evolution Platform services and customer tenants and resources hosted in Cloud Avenue.

Customer journey

To connect a Cloud Avenue tenant to Evolution Platform, the customer must first have: 

  • an active Cloud Avenue contract, 
  • an active Evolution Platform contract, and the On-Demand Cloud Connect for Cloud Avenue service enabled. 

Once these prerequisites are met, a connector can be created between the Evolution Platform environment and the customer’s Cloud Avenue tenant. 

After the administrative setup is completed, configuration steps must be performed on both the Cloud Avenue (VMware Cloud Director) side and the Evolution Platform side. 

The following slides describe: 

  • the actions to perform in the Cloud Avenue Cloud Store to identify an existing Tier-0 Gateway (T0) or order one, depending on the selected use case; 
  • the actions to perform in the Evolve Console to configure the connectivity. 

As this involves external connectivity, most of the provisioning tasks are automated. However, we recommend that customers with Gold or Silver support contact their Technical Lead before starting the configuration. Customers with a Standard support contract should consider purchasing a 4-hour professional services package to assist with the initial setup.
