VM Troubleshooting

My VM won’t start.

Probable cause Solution
My VDC does not have enough resources

I check my available resource quota from the Data Center tab.

For storage, I check my storage policies, because it depends on the policy used by the VM rather than the total of my storage resources.

I compare with the amount of resources configured on my VM

To modify my VDC resources: Manage a vDC’s resources

One of the IP addresses assigned to a network card of my VM is already used by another of my VMs or by the gateway
  • This can happen when restoring a VM from a backup.
  • I check my IP addressing plan.

My Windows license is not activated.

Probable cause Solution
The VM cannot access the service zone I check the NAT rule that allows me to reach this service zone by following the procedure: Network connection to the service zone (NGP)
KMS has not been configured correctly

I use the Single Post-Configuration Script provided

Warning: If you do not use the templates, you must create a Temp folder at the root of C: with write permissions before running the post-config script.

The Web console does not open.

Probable cause Solution
Browser-related
