Known Limitations and Errors
VMware Cloud Director Object Storage Extension (OSE) Plug-in
Please Note: The plugin is provided as a beta version.
Integrated into your Cloud Director portal, the OSE plugin allows you to store and share objects (unstructured data) within your organization.
You can also use it for backup and archiving.
Currently, the plugin has the following limitations:
- Synchronization issues between the plugin and storage, particularly:
- The “Dashboard” tab is not up-to-date for “Buckets,” “Objects,” and “Storage”
- In the “Buckets” tab: the list of buckets is sometimes inaccurate
- In a Bucket, the “Permissions” and “Lifecycle” menus are missing
- The “Synchronize” action sometimes results in an inaccurate object list
- Version display does not work
- The “Security Credentials” tab provides key pairs that allow:
- Access to the S3 API
- No access to the IAM API (contact support if needed)
- No encryption is available (despite the presence of configuration menus)
The plugin sometimes displays the following errors:
- “Ghost” display of an object or prefix (even if it no longer exists in storage)
Object Storage Service
You can access the service:
- via the OSE plugin interface
- via S3, IAM, and STS APIs through the URL endpoint
Currently, the service has the following limitations:
- Only one storage class (STANDARD)
- No encryption
- Bucket: no notifications
- No logging
- Users and roles (IAM identities): no inline policies
- STS API: only the “AssumeRole” action is available
