Backing up a VM
Overview
Backup can be done :
- On an Organization
- An OvDC
- A vApp
- A VM
It is possible to perform 2 types of Backups:
- Backup Now
- with an associated PL

Warning !
A saved VM will switch to Attention status before its 1st trigger between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Backup Now
Backup Now backs up your VM at a given point in time, with a 1-month retention period. After this month, your backup will expire.
Select your VM and from the Actions button, choose Backup Now: vcloud

Enter a reference for the backup and select the Backup Now button.
When the backup is complete, an e-mail notification is sent to the user who created the backup.

VM backup with PL
To protect a VM, click on the Actions button in the VM details view.
Select the Protection Level (PL) you wish to apply:

Then enter a reference and select Protect.
which triggers VM protection.
The VM then changes to Caution status and will be taken into account for the next night scheduling.

PLs can also be set up on a VDC or vApp.
