Cross Connect

The Cross Connect option provides level 3 connectivity to securely interconnect a physical infrastructure hosted in a datacenter where Cloud Avenue is present.

Use case

The Cross Connect option allows to respond to several use cases.

Connection of the Client’s Cloud Avenue infrastructure to:

  • physical equipment: servers, routers, firewall, storage arrays, virtual infrastructure, etc.
  • the router of a third-party operator, if the latter is present on the Datacenter
  • a private interconnection (Business Ethernet for example)

Prerequisites

To benefit from this option, you must:

  • have subscribed to a Flexible Hosting offer either in Val de Reuil or in Chartres
  • have a network equipment deployed as part of the Flexible Hosting offer (a router, a firewall or a network switch)
  • have at least one RJ45 network port available on the network equipment that will be connected
  • the location of the equipment, the name of the equipment, the port (or ports) to be used

Point of attention: If the equipment needs to access the Internet
Equipment installed in the Cross Connect area cannot use Cloud Avenue’s Internet access through the T0 “Internet”. This limitation applies regardless of whether the equipment is addressed with public IPs or RFC 1918 addresses.
If a piece of equipment hosted in the Cross Connect area wants to access or be accessible from the Internet, then it must contract a dedicated Internet access with its operator.

Subscription

The Cross Connect option can be ordered via the Customer Area, by a change request.

The different links available to connect to Cloud Avenue are described in the following table :

Type of the link useful bandwidth redundancy mechanism
1 ethernet link 1 Gbps without
2 ethernet links 1 Gbps nominal / rescue
2 ethernet links 2 Gbps nominal / backup with link aggregation (with the LACP protocol)
1 ethernet link 10 Gbps without

2 ethernet links

10 Gbps nominal / rescue

2 ethernet links

20 Gbps nominal / backup with link aggregation (with the LACP protocol)

Setting up

The activation of this option is carried out in collaboration between the Client’s technical teams and those of Orange Business for the configuration of the entire link chain.

Billing

Each link is charged a monthly fee. Contrary to the usual principle, the implementation of this option is accompanied by a fee paid only once, upon implementation.

See the price sheet for details.

Recomandations

Regarding the choice of network equipment to be deployed in the colocation area by you, Orange Business recommends the CISCO Nexus 93180YC-EXswitch which has several advantages:

  • equipment well known to our Operations teams, so the implementation and diagnostics will be facilitated
  • available in 24 and 48 ports, depending on the license subscribed, same hardware
  • supports the vxlan, which will allow setting up a level 2 link when the option is available (evolution under study).

Switch Option: shared colocation (Cross connect)

Overview

In addition to our Cross Connect feature, we offer a shared collocation switch option, offering an end-to-end connectivity solution between your Cloud Avenue tenant and your Flexible Housing collocation bay. This service is available with different types of ports (copper and fiber) and speeds (from 1 to 10 Gbit). We offer the dual attachment option to ensure high availability.

The option is based on a Cisco Nexus switch, requiring the availability of one unit (1U) in your bay for its installation. Your switch is fully configured and supervised by our teams, ensuring simplified and secure management. In terms of technical specifications, we offer up to 10 configurable ports and support for 5 VLANs, tailored to your network segmentation and connectivity needs.

This solution can be deployed on our two sites, Val-de-Reuil and Chartres, with the possibility of adding an inter-site connection via our METRO NextGen connectivity infrastructure, ensuring a smooth and efficient interconnection between your hosted environments.

Warning !

For dual site architectures requiring METRO NextGen connectivity or a specific switch provided by Orange Business or by you, a specific study will need to be carried out.
