Closure of selected services in the Amsterdam region

Flexible Engine
Release Notes

June, 2023

What’s new?

Effective July 31, 2023, Flexible Engine will close the Multi-AZ object storage and compute services in the Amsterdam eu-west-1c availability zone due to increased hosting costs and optimized resource management.

Closure details

Why the upcoming change?

The decision to concentrate our offer by closing the mentioned services has been made due to the increasing costs of hosting, particularly related to electricity. By taking this step, we aim to contribute to our Green IT commitment and optimize resource management.

Storage

Mono-AZ object storage will continue to be fully available, allowing you to host a wide range of data as needed. We encourage you to migrate your Multi-AZ object storage buckets to Mono-AZ object storage buckets. To facilitate this transition, we have provided users with the obsutil tool.

Compute

For your Elastic Cloud Server (ECS) instances, we kindly request that you migrate them to the eu-west-1a zone. To assist you with this process, we offer the Cloud Backup and Recovery service, which allows you to back up your ECS instances in the eu-west-1c zone and restore them in the eu-west-1a zone.

PaaS

There will be no impact on PaaS service resources deployed in multi-AZ object storage (Cloud Container Engine – CCE – HA cluster, Relational Database Service – RDS – master/standby, Document Database Service – DDS – and Distributed Message Service – DMS clusters). You will still be able to create resources for all these services exclusively in the eu-west-1a availability zone.

Support

Our dedicated support team is available to provide assistance throughout this transition. Please feel free to reach out to us via your Cloud Customer Space with any questions or concerns you may have.
