[EVS] Cinder upgrade to 20.3
Flexible Engine
Release Notes
April, 2023
What’s new?
In line with our commitment to continuously innovate to improve the security features on Flexible Engine, a new security service is now available for users in the Amsterdam region to enable them to encrypt their Elastic Volume Service (EVS) disks during creation. With EVS now being linked with the Key Management Service (KMS) service, users can rest assured that their block disks are encrypted to the highest standards, ensuring maximum protection against potential security breaches.
Key Management Service
What is it?
Key Management Service (KMS) is a secure, reliable and easy-to-use cloud service that helps users create, manage and protect keys centrally.
How it works
The service uses hardware security modules (HSMs) to protect keys. All keys are protected by root keys in the HSMs to prevent key leakage. KMS implements access control and log tracking for all key operations and provides usage logs for all keys to meet audit and compliance requirements. By linking EVS to KMS, encryption is now supported on EVS drives.
