Import a VM
Overview
You can import VMs from various environments in vCloudDirector. To do this, simply export your VM in the format OVF/OVA. The disks must be converted into VMDK or VMX to be imported into vCloudDirector.
Prerequisites
- How to Access your VMs
- How to Deploy a VM
- How To open Ticket Support
Little VMs
You can import your VMs into vCloudDirector from an OVF or OVA file as follows this article.
The upload time for your VM will depend on your Internet speed and the size.
Large VMs
If the size of your OVF/OVA file exceeds 50 Go it will be necessary to open a Ticket specifying your requirements.
Ask to activate the Cloud Expertise team. An FTPS server is available on the Internet for you to upload your OVF/OVA file.
Other method
It is also possible to import/export your VMs using the OVF tool, provided free of charge by VMware, which allows you to import and export OVF/ISO packages between environments or from third-party providers.
OVF tool is a command line tool only (ovftool).
