Compute
There are two billing methods on this service: pay as you go billing and monthly billing (in the case of instances reservation (RI)).
Pay As You Go billing allows more flexibility. ECS is billed by the minute rounded up to the nearest hour on a monthly basis. In the event that an instance is billed more than 650 hours in a month, the remaining hours of the month are not billed.
This billing starts from the moment it is provisioned and as long as it remains switched on. When a ECS in pay as you go is stopped, it is not billed (computing resources: vCPU and memory). However, the resources associated with the ECS, such as EVS disks (systems and data) and the public IP address are still billed. However, there are some ECS templates that have one or more local data disks (e.g. d1, d2, p2 families). For the latter, billing continues until the ECS instance is deleted.

[Elastic Cloud Server] c1.large | 1 300,00 | Heures | 0,0839 | 20,00 | 109,07 |
[Elastic Cloud Server] c2.2xlarge | 1 950,00 | Heures | 0,3366 | 20,00 | 656,37 |
In the example above:
The unit price of a c1.large is 0.0839 € excl. taxes.
The client used 1300 hours.
The number of hours of a full month is capped at 650 hours.
The price of a month’s use of an ECS c1.large is 54.54€ excl. taxes (see the price catalogue).
The customer used two c1.large for this month (two instances at 650 hours = 1300 hours). In pay as you go billing, the ECS are grouped by type of template. There can therefore be several c1.large on the same usage line.
The Reserved mode is called reserved instances. It corresponds to a monthly basis throughout the duration of the commitment. This billing method offers a higher discount than pay as you go and is recommended for long-term users.
In this invoicing mode, the customer has the choice to order Reserved Instances over a commitment period of 1, 2 or 3 years. The longer the duration of your subscription, the greater the discount compared to Pay As You Go pricing. This reservation applies to a type of instance (template) and is not linked to a particular instance. It is for example possible to delete and recreate an instance or to change its operating system (OS).
Note: If you subscribe to two t2.micro instances: one in Pay As You Go billing mode and one in Reserved Instance billing mode, we will take into account the t2.micro instance with the highest usage in the reserved instance billing mode. This allows you to benefit from the discount on the instance with the most important use.
The customer can also choose between a subscription without upfront or with an upfront. Subscription with upfront allows you to benefit from a discount:
Without upfront: the customer has the possibility to choose a reserved instance without upfront for a commitment period of only one year. He will pay the same monthly price each month for the duration of the contract.
With upfront: the customer also has the possibility to choose with an upfront over all commitment periods (1, 2 or 3 years). The customer will receive on his first invoice an initial cost equivalent to the upfront and the monthly cost of the ECS. The upfront generally corresponds to 50% of the total cost of the reserved instance (over the entire duration of the engagement), so it reduces the cost of the instance on a monthly basis over the year.

It is possible to provision Dedicated Cloud in a few minutes on the technical console within the limits of available resources. In case of insufficient stock, a provisioning time of up to 4 months may apply. Dedicated Cloud services are reserved for a minimum of one year. Cloud servers use system and data disks based on elastic volume service (EVS). However, it is possible to combine DeC computing services (dedicated hypervisors) with the Dedicated Storage Service (DSS).
The Cloud Container Engine service is billed on a per-use basis for the cluster in addition to the Flexible Engine resources provided by the user (ECS, EVS, SFS…). The price of the Cloud Container Engine depends on the type of cluster provisioned (cluster for virtual machines or for baremetal servers), the type of availability chosen (standard or high availability) and the maximum number of nodes (ECS or BMS) that can be provisioned in the cluster (50, 100, 200 nodes).
In the technical console, you select the type, availability mode and capacity of the cluster, and then billing is calculated from the time the cluster is created until it is deleted (rounded to the minute). It is also possible to put the cluster in hibernation in order to suspend this billing. It is recommended that you delete the cluster when it does not contain any nodes in operation to avoid unnecessary billing.
Item | Invoiced quantity | Unit | Price per Unit/Basics EUR excl. | VAT Rate | Amount EUR excl. |

The Flexible Engine Direct Connect premium service allows you to set up your Direct Connect via the Flexible Engine console.
Your OBS Galerie VPN access is connected to your online services via a virtual connection called a “hosted connection”, established by our network partner OBS in the selected region.
The customer must subscribe independently to the OBS Galerie VPN service, sign two separate contracts and obtain two invoices. Native redundancy is included in the service. The service is determined by the available bandwidth between the customer’s location and the OBS Galerie VPN network. The cost is for one VPN client. For multi-tenant accounts, a VPN client can be connected to an unlimited number of locations under a single account.
The virtual “hosted connection” is billed in outbound Mbps per month and in increments based on the amount of outbound data from the virtual machine. The billing is calculated based on the number of Mbps transferred.
For a Standard connection, the price is per connection. It is strongly recommended to use at least 2 ports.
Item | Invoiced Quantity | Unit | PU/base EUR HT | Rate VAT | Amount Eur excl. |
[Direct Connect] Hosted Connection – 1 to 5 Mbps (Mbps*Mois) | 1 | 5 (Mbps*Month) | 5,50 | 20 | 6,60 |
[Direct Connect] Hosted Connection – 101 to 200 Mbps (Mbps*Mois) | 1 |
(Mbps*Month) |
91,30 | 20 | 109,56 |
[Direct Connect] Standard Connection – 1 port 1GE | 1 | 1000
(Mbps*Month) |
496,10 | 20 | 595,32 |
In the previous example:
The customer transferred 5 Mbps from a Flexible Engine VPC to the Internet or another virtual machine.
Between 1 and 5 Mbps, the price of the transferred data is 5,50€HT/Mbps this month.
Between 101 and 200, the price of the transferred data is 91,30€HT/Go this month.
In this case, the service utility has a port for a standard connection, the price of this 1GE port is 496,10HT per connection this month.
Data Analysis
The DWS price is composed of two billing units, the billing is detailed as follows:
- Cost of the DWS instance used: The DWS instance is charged according to the number of hours of use. The number of hours of a full month is capped at 650 hours. The price varies according to the flavor.
- Cost of the storage used: the storage is calculated on an hourly basis in GB per hour. The monthly amount is calculated on the basis of 744 hours per month.
Item | Invoiced quantity | Unit | Price per unit/Basics EUR excl. | VAT Rate | Amount EUR excl. |
[Data Warehouse Service] dws.m1.xlarge.ultrahigh | 2232 | Heures | 0,3900 | 20,00 | 870,48 |
In the example above:
The customer used the dws.m1.xlarge.ultrahigh instance for 2232 hours.
The dws.m1.xlarge.ultrahigh instance fee is 0,3900€ excl. VAT/hour.
The Cloud Search Service (CSS) is charged for the usage of the CSS instances, the storage Elastic Volume Service (EVS) and the Network Outbound Traffic as follows:
- The CSS instances is charged according to the instance type and specifications (vCPUs and RAM), the number of used instances, the usage duration, the selected billing mode (either PAYG or Reserved Instance).
In Pay-as-You-Go (PAYG)
There is no minimum fee or usage requirement. The service is automatically charged from the time that the resource is created until the time it is stopped or deleted based on a usage at the minute granularity according to PAYG Hourly Price. Over 650 hours of usage in the month, the service is charged according to the PAYG Monthly Price, which generates a significant cost saving compared to the Hourly Price. In the ds serie, the CSS instance uses a local data disk and is charged until it is deleted, and not simply stopped as it is the case for the other flavors.
In Reserved Instance mode (RI)
In order to benefit from significant cost savings compared to the Pay-as-you-go price, the user can subscribe to Reserved Instances with an irrevocable commitment of a period of 1 year, 2 years or 3 years. The subscription is made by the user himself on his customer space in the OBS Cloud Store and activated the next month. Two models can be chosen:
– With Reserved Instance without upfront, the user is charged with a fixed amount each month regardless his usage
– With a Reserved Instance with Upfront, the user have an Upfront Payment (which corresponds to a part of the total cost of the Instance during the period) and a Monthly Fee. The Upfront Payment is due for each reserved period (initial and renewal). The « Effective Monthly » cost is for information only, resulting from calculating the sum of the Upfront payment amortization per month, plus the Monthly Fee.
2) The storage from the Elastic Volume Service (EVS) that the user attaches to the CSS instance is charged according to the prices and billing rules described in the corresponding section https://cloud.orange-business.com/nos-tarifs/elastic-volume-service/
3) The Network Outbound Traffic which is generated by the CSS instance is charged according to the prices and billing rules described in the corresponding section https://cloud.orange-business.com/nos-tarifs/data-traffic/.

The ess.spec-4u8g instance costs 0,2655€ excl. VAT/hr.
Data Injection Service is billed based on the partition hour, PUT Payload quantity and the storage used. The billing is detailed as follows:
- Cost of the DIS stream partition used: Partition is the base capacity unit of DIS. There are two types of partition: General partition and advanced partition. The general partition provides a capacity of 1MB/sec data input, 2MB/sec data output and support up to 1000 records put per second. The advanced partition provides a capacity of 5MB/sec data input ,10MB/sec data output and support up to 2000 records put per second. The DIS stream partition is charged according to the number of hours of use. Charging starts from the time when the DIS stream is created and stops when the DIS stream is deleted.
- Cost of the PUT Payload Unit number: A record is the data that your data producer adds to DIS stream. A PUT Payload Unit is counted in 25KB payload ‘chunks’ that comprise a record. For example, a 5KB record contains one PUT Payload Unit, a 45KB record contains two PUT Payload Units, and a 1000KB record contains 40 PUT Payload Units. PUT Payload Unit is charged with a per million PUT Payload Units rate.
- Cost of the data storage used: Data can be preserved in a DIS stream for 1 to 7 days. Data will be deleted at the end of your selected retention period. In general, the data storage one day is free, it means that 84GB of storage space for each partition is free to use. Of course, the final free space size can be specified according to the actual situation. The storage is calculated on an hourly basis in GB per hour. The monthly amount is calculated based on 744 hours per month.
DIS is charged for resource usage as follow:
- One Partition Costs=partition time * partition rate + Payload Unit Num * Payload Unit Rate + Data storage size * storage size rate
- Total Costs per stream = Partition 1 Cost + Partition 2 Cost + … + Partition n Cost
Both resources will be charged at the same time. Each charged will be listed separately. There will be 3 CDR records for each stream in the billing interval.
The data will be cached for some time in the service, and default cache time is 24 hours. If the user wants dump the data to OBS, the operation in OBS will be charged separately.
For example:
Item | Invoiced quantity | Unit | Price per unit/Basics EUR excl. | VAT Rate | Amount EUR excl. |
[Data Ingestion Service] Partition Time | 2646,00 | Heures | 0,0148 | 20,00 | 39,16 |
[Data Ingestion Service] PUT Payload Units per million units | 1,00 | Unit | 0,0143 | 20,00 | 0,00 |
[Data Ingestion Service] Storage Retention | 0,00 | GiB/Month | 0.0205 | 20,00 | 0,00 |
Partition Hour: One Partition costs € 0,0148 per hour. So the cost of partition is 2646 * 0.0148 = 39.16€.
PUT Payload Unit (25KB): The 1 million Payload Unit costs €0,0143. Our data producers 1 million PUT Payload records. So it costs 0.0143€.
Storage Retention: We didn’t choose the data storage retention function, so the cost is 0.
So, the total is: € (39.16 + 0.0143)
MapReduce Service is charged the lifetime of the instance over the duration of its existence. Cloud Servers use a system disk based on the EVS elastic volume service, and for some flavors a local disk is also included. The ECS is invoiced:
– when it is turned on for flavors that do not include a local disk.
– including when it is turned off and until it is completely deleted for flavors including a local disk.
For example:
Item | Invoiced quantity | Unit | Price per unit/Basics EUR excl. | VAT Rate | Amount EUR excl. |
[Map Reduce Service] cc3.2xlarge.4 (Hadoop) | 744 | Heures | 0,0856 | 20,00 | 63,6864 |
[Map Reduce Service] cc3.2xlarge.4 (Hadoop) | 744 | Heures | 0,0856 | 20,00 | 63,6864 |
Suppose that you have subscribed to an MRS cluster charged in Pay-per-use mode. The cluster has one Master (8 vCPUs, 32 GB) node and one Core (8 vCPUs, 32 GB) node. Both the Master and Core nodes have a default 40 GB system disk and 100 GB storage space. In the example above, you used 2 cc3.2xlarge.4 instances for 744 hours. The cc3.2xlarge.4 instance fee is 0,0856€ excl. VAT/hour.
The pricing details per hour would be as follows:
- MRS management fee = 2 x 63,6864 (MRS instance price);
- ECS fee = 2 x ECS instance price;
- EVS fee = (40 + 40 + 100 + 100) x storage price;
- Total price per hour = MRS management fee + ECS fee + EVS fee.
Model Arts supports machine learning and deep learning algorithm development and deployment, including data processing, model development, training, and management, and service deployment.
The billing items include model development environments (notebooks), model training, and service deployment (real-time services). All the instances are charged according to the number of hours of use.
For example:
Item | Invoiced quantity | Unit | Price per unit/Basics EUR excl. | VAT Rate | Amount EUR excl. |
[ModelArts] Instance ma.c6.large.4 – 2 vCPU 8GB RAM | 153,65 | Heures | 0,1279 | 20,00 | 19,65 |
The customer used the ma.c6.large.4 instance for 153,65 hours.
The ma.c6.large.4 instance instance fee is 0,1279€ excl. VAT/hour.
So, the cost is: 153,65 * 0,1279 = 19,65€
Data Lake Insight supports pay-per-use billing mode. It’s charged according to the number of hours of Compute unit (CU). CU is the pricing unit of queues. A CU contains one core and 4-GB memory. The computing capabilities of queues vary with queue specifications. The higher the specifications, the higher the computing capability.
For example:
Item | Invoiced quantity | Unit | Price per unit/Basics EUR excl. | VAT Rate | Amount EUR excl. |
[Data Lake Insight] Compute unit specification | 23808,00 | Heures | 0,0649 | 20,00 | 1545,14 |
The customer used one compute unit for 23808,00 hours.
One CU fee is 0,0649€ excl. VAT/hour.
So, the cost is: 23808,00 * 0,0649 = 1545,14€
Applications Services
The Distributed Cache Service is billed from the time the DCS instance is created until it is stopped or deleted. This service is billed on an hourly granularity basis. Billing also depends on the type of DCS instance chosen: Single-node, Master/Standby or Proxy Cluster.
Item | Invoiced quantity | Unit | Price per Unit/Basics EUR excl. | VAT Rate | Amount EUR excl. |
[Distributed Cache Service] Single Nodes – cache.m1.medium (Heures) | 743,889 | 0,0360 | 26,78 | 20,00 | 32,14 |
In the example above:
The customer has used one DCS instance for 743,889 hours.
The hour of use of a Single-node DCS instance is billed 0.0360€ excl. VAT/unit.
Entreprise Application
There are two billing modes for this service: pay as you go billing and reserved mode billing.
The on-demand mode offers total flexibility with pay-as-you-go pricing rules.
When you start a workspace instance, you will be charged a fixed monthly fee based on the selected instance and an hourly rate based on the number of hours the instance is powered up.
When you shut down the instance, the fixed monthly fee will still apply, but the hourly rate billing will stop.
When you delete the instance, the fixed monthly fee is stopped the following month and the hourly billing is stopped as soon as the instance is deleted.
Note: If you delete a workspace instance and recreate one during the month: two fixed monthly fees will be applied.
The reserved mode allows for significant savings compared to pay-per-use billing. It is ideal for extended use of workspace instances. The reservation of the instance is for a period of one month with tacit renewal. You will pay a fixed monthly fee that depends on the type of instance chosen. In this mode, all notions of duration of use or workspace instance on/off/deleted do not apply.
Note: If you subscribe to multiple workspace instances through the technical console and if you have subscribed to a single workspace instance in reserved mode of the same template on your Cloud Customer Space, the workspace instance with the highest usage will be taken into account in the reserved instance billing and the other instances will be billed on a per use basis. This will allow you to benefit from the discount related to the reserved instance billing on the workspace instance with the highest usage.
The new VDI Dedicated Instances are charged in pure PAYG, including those components:
