Access Your VMs
Overview
It is crucial to be able to access your VMs from the vCloud Director portal. VMware offers you two ways to access your VMs.
Access to your VMs can be done from a Data Center, but you can also have a view of the VMs across your entire organization.
Note!
Remember the hierarchy within vCloud Director.
An Organization contains one or more VDCs, which themselves contain one or more vApps, which also contain one or more VMs:
Organization > VDC > vApp > VM
Prerequisites
- Have access to your Organization’s vCloud Director portal
From a Data Center
Note!
This way, you will have visibility on the content of a single VDC (network, Edge T1, VM)
Selecting the VDC
- Go to the Data Centers tab
- Click on the VDC you want to work with.
From this tab, you can check the capacity of each of our VDCs. Before deploying your VMs, make sure that the available resources are sufficient.

vApp / Virtual Applications
From the vApp tab, you can obtain various information about the vApps that make up your VDC. You can, for example, display them as a list, sort them, or perform advanced filtering on certain fields.

Virtual Machines
From the Virtual Machines tab, you can obtain various information about the VMs that make up your VDC. You can display them as a list for better visibility.
