Our data centers are 15 minutes from Oslo’s city center by car and 40 minutes from Norway’s main airport (OSL). Oslo is also the country’s IT capital and thus a natural gathering point for all leading providers. Here you will find your partners represented, including consulting companies, hardware and software vendors. It makes it easy to arrange meetings with the best experts, get quick deliveries of storage solutions and other hardware as well as negotiate the best prices.

The data centers’ major technology ecosystem is useful when developing solutions, but also in critical situations. Expert professionals are available in the metropolitan area and can quickly get to the center even at night without a long and time-consuming route, such as involving air travel.

Dual site

Some computer systems are completely business critical in the sense that the entire business will stop if the systems are down. Such systems may include booking, e-commerce, ERP, communications, management and automation systems. We can live without email and word processing for a while, but downtime on business critical IT systems will be serious from the very first moment and could endanger life, health and finances.

Orange Business can now deliver dual site data center solutions for disaster protection and emergency retrieval of data in a way that guarantees virtually uninterrupted operations. A multiple setup is possible for redundant operation, storage and backup. Having two data centers at a short distance from each other is crucial for setting up dual site operations. A few kilometers from OSL5 in Lørenskog lies our OSL3 data center. By establishing solutions in both centers you can achieve redundant operation.

Cooling

Orange Business has installed state-of-the-art and highly efficient cooling systems based on the exchange of hot air directly with outside air. Our Scandinavian climate makes this a very effective solution. The cooling system is redundant, of course, and can withstand the failure or loss of components without affecting the climate in the data halls.

For special needs, we can also provide rooms with traditional data room cooling based on ice water.

Security

Our data centers have video surveillance, physical barriers, locks, mantraps and secure access control that includes registration. We have state-of-the art fire detection and shutdown, and are connected to the fire department. We also have a 24-hour security service and can provide individual locking of racks and cages.

The centers have a level of security that covers the necessary requirements for safeguarding critical infrastructure and other business-critical IT operations. Regarding the way Orange Business operates with business-critical data management, our key words are ISO 27001 for security, ISO 14001 on HMS, ITIL for customer management and Level 1 PCI DSS 3.0 for customers who need secure credit card transactions.

The importance of IT security is deeply embedded in our organization. We have been full members of FIRST since 2013 and are also a member of a consultancy organization that deals everyday with digital security issues including DDoS, hacking, phishing and social engineering.

Power

Orange Business data centers deliver 100 percent uptime SLA on power. This is done using two independent power supplies fed by two independent diesel generators and two independent UPS systems (uninterruptible power supply).

One UPS provides power from batteries during power outages or other irregularities in the power supply. If necessary, the diesel generators start in less than one minute. Orange Business has diesel for at least 48 hours of operation without the need for refueling.

Our operating center monitors the situation on a continuous basis.

OSL5 at Lørenskog is located directly at the central power supply.

Connectivity

Orange Business has a carrier neutral policy for our colocation services. As a customer, you are free to enter into connectivity agreements with us or directly with telecom providers.

We have already made provisions with all the major fiber suppliers in the Norwegian market, such as Telenor, TDC and Broadnet. These have available fiber and IP-VPN capacity directly to our data center, so you can make direct deals with them, if desired. The arrangement also applies to large international suppliers who normally use local Norwegian suppliers.

Orange Business delivers own ISP services and lines between our data centers.

Our ISP is made up of multiple 10G transit lines to redundant transit providers at our locations outside of Norway (Amsterdam and Stockholm). We have established local peering links to major local actors and local Internet Exchange points. Including failover and shortest path routing between locations, this traffic always goes fastest between server solutions and end users. In sum, this implies high performance, capacity and security at delivery.

Between our data centers in Oslo we have built redundant dark fiber pathways that are multiplexed with DWDM technology. For customers who choose a dual site solution, we can deliver dedicated fiber wavelengths between the locations with full diversity and redundancy at favorable terms.
