What’s new?  

Host Security Service (HSS) version 1 has reached its end of life. We recommend that you migrate to HSS version 2 as soon as possible to continue receiving security updates, patches, and technical support.

Host Security Service (HSS)  

What is it?

Host Security Service (HSS) facilitates unified remote management and monitoring of servers, ensuring system integrity, enhancing application security, monitoring user operations and detecting intrusions.

Recommendations

To ensure the ongoing security of your hosts and to benefit from continued technical support, we strongly recommend migrating from Host Security Service (HSS) V1 to HSS V2. Key enhancements include advanced protection technologies for more precise defense against intrusions and web tampering, an improved centralized management console for streamlined operations, enhanced Container Guard Service (CGS) for better security of containerized applications, upgraded Web Page Tampering Protection (WTP) to safeguard web integrity, and a lightweight agent designed to reduce system impact while delivering superior security.

To complete this transition, please follow the steps below based on your operating system:

For Linux machines:

  • Stop protected hosts: Log in to the HSS V1 page and stop the protected hosts.
  • Uninstall the agent: Log in to each host where the agent is online and run the command “rpm -e hostguard” to uninstall the agent.
  • Install the new version: Log in to the HSS V2 page and copy the installation commands. Execute the copied commands to install the software.

For Windows machines:

  • Stop protected hosts: Log in to the HSS V1 page and stop the protected hosts.
  • Uninstall the agent: Log in to the Windows console, go to the Control Panel, and uninstall the program. Note: Before uninstalling the agent, determine if “all-pass” rules are needed. If necessary, delete the “PkgConfMgr.exe” file as shown in the screenshot, then uninstall the agent.
  • Install the New Version: Log in to the HSS V2 page and copy the installation commands. Use Internet Explorer on Windows to download and install the package.
