HA Dual-Room

Overview

This vDC availability class makes it possible to obtain a very high level of application availability, by making the infrastructure carry resilience.

Description

The different types of vDCs and their availability classes are described on this page.

See here the principle of operation of the vDC HADR.

HADR in action

In this schema, we can see that some VM are running on room 1 (in blue) and on room 2 (in red).

This is the normal behavior of a stretched cluster, with a load balancing of the workloads.

In this view, an outage of the room 1 has just happen. Logicaly, the VM hosted in room 1 are suddenly halted

Fortunately, the vmware HA mechanism will detect that some cluster members are missing, so it will decide to restart immediately the VM on faulty ESXi.

Owing to the stretched storage, providing the storage whatever the room it is needed, the VM can be restarted and and the room 1 outage had little impact on service availability, or none if the services were deployed across multiple VMs across both rooms..

Billing

Invoicing is standard and is based on the WUs of the tariff sheet identified HADR.
