Log Tanks Service (LTS) – collect and store logs, and query them in real time

Simplify decision making, perform routine O&M, and improve log processing efficiency with LTS

Log Tanks Service
Simplify decision making, perform routine O&M, and improve log processing efficiency with LTS

LTS gives tenants an easy way to collect log data from various cloud services, servers, and network devices. It helps tenants quickly find specific data from mass data sets and locate problems. In addition, it supports long-term storage and prevents loss of log data.

Log collection

Tenants configure a log upload path on the VPC console, and VPC flow logs will be uploaded to LTS for tenants to view or transfer.

Tracker management

Tenants can enable CTS by creating a tracker. For this tracker, an OBS bucket and a trace file prefix are required. Every tracker can be modified, deleted, viewed, started, or stopped

Viewing and searching

LTS enables tenants to preview and query logs. With LTS, tenants can locate faults in seconds, helping them improve O&M and operation efficiency.

Transferring logs to OBS

Generally, the collected logs are retained in LTS for 7 days and can be periodically transferred to OBS. This feature realizes the transfer of logs.

Using LTS, you can:

Collect VPC flow logs.
– Create and manage log groups.
– Create and manage log topics.
– View and search for logs.
– View context of VPC flow logs.
– Transfer logs to OBS buckets periodically for archiving.

Benefits

Centralized Management

Supports the centralized management of logs from a variety of networks, environments, and devices. It makes collecting and uploading logs simple and efficient.

Flexible

Enables you to flexibly query logs within a second using the full-text query function, with no need to use SQL statements.

Reliable

Uses permission controls and HTTPS encryption to ensure data reliability, supporting transfer of all logs to OBS buckets for storage.

Storage

Frees you from investing in development and O&M. Your logs are transferred to OBS buckets for long-term storage, which is charged by used capacity.

Use Cases

Log analysis

LTS helps you collect real-time logs generated in the system using Agent, such as access traffic and clicks. LTS archives log data offline and displays detailed operations data and bills on both a daily and weekly basis.

System improvement and optimization

The performance of website services (such as databases and networks) and quality of other services are important metrics for measuring customer satisfaction. With the network congestion logs provided by LTS, you can pinpoint the performance bottlenecks of your website. This helps you improve your website cache and network transmission policies.

Log audit

With Agent, LTS collects logs in real time, preventing your data from being mistakenly deleted or maliciously deleted by hackers. Logs on the LTS console can be transferred to OBS buckets for long-time storage to meet compliance requirements.

Fault diagnosis

LTS collects logs in real time, locating faults as soon as they occur. It allows developers to directly query logs without logging in to the server where the faults originate.

System protection

If your system is attacked, such as unauthorized access or malicious requests, you can find solutions by analyzing the raw logs to ensure smooth system operation.

Real-time monitoring and alarm reporting

You can collect statistics on data stored in LTS by keyword. After interconnecting with Cloud Eye, you can monitor the number of keywords and set an alarm rule to monitor keywords of logs in real time.

Function List

Manage logs

Creating and deleting log groups and log topics.

View and search logs

Viewing and searching for logs generated in the past 7 days, by filter.

Store logs to OBS

LTS will check new logs periodically and upload them to tenants’ OBS buckets and grant rights for tenants.

The supported services include :

– VPC
– IMS
– OBS

Creating a log group

Viewing a log group

Creating a log topic

Viewing a log topic

Deleting a log group

Create a log group for log storage and query. Each cloud account can create a maximum of 10 log groups.

View information about existing log groups, including the log group name, ID, expiration date, and creation time.

Delete a created log group.

Create a log topic under the created log group on the LTS console. View and query raw logs under that log topic.

View information about existing log topics, including the log topic name, ID, log generated time, and creation time.

Delete a log topic that will no longer be used.

View and search for logs

Full-text search

Viewing context

Indicates that LTS creates indexes for all fields in logs. In this search mode, you can search for any field in logs.

The viewing context function enables tenants to link up several logs before and after this log, helping tenants locate faults during O&M and freeing tenants from paging up to seek for relevant logs.
Store logs to OBS
Store logs to tenant’s OBS bucket
Logs uploaded to the LTS platform can be stored for 7 days. For long-term storage, transfer logs to OBS buckets.
