Public Cloud – Flexible Engine
Dedicated Host – physical servers with instance capabilities dedicated to your use
Allows users to request dedicated physical hosts for their virtual machines
The VMs on the dedicated hosts won’t run with VMs of other tenants. The Dedicated Host (DeH) service enables the tenant user to specify the type of the dedicated host and one type of dedicated host is suitable to run specific instance types, and also the DeH enables the tenant user to bring his/her own license to save money by exploiting or migrating to public cloud service.
A web-based management console is provided for you to flexibly utilize the features of DeH that work out of the box. DeH has the following features:
Rapid deployment :
A dedicated host can be provisioned in only a few minutes to meet urgent service requirements.
Simple management :
You can use the web-based console or open APIs to utilize all the features of DeH.
On demand charging :
You are charged by the dedicated hosts provisioned and you can release the dedicated hosts anytime to save money.
Placement options :
You can modify the placement options of every dedicate hosts to meet your business requirements. And also you can put instances on dedicated hosts and instances on shared hosts into a single VPC.
Various physical hosts :
Various physical hosts are provided to meet your different computing requirements.
View physical sockets, cores, memory size and utilization :
You can monitor the sockets, cores, memory size and utilization of the dedicated hosts, and to adjust your allocation to meet business requirements and save money anytime.
You can leverage DeH to reuse your existing licenses of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft applications to save money.
ECS passer à DeH : le pool public ECS peut migrer vers un hôte DeH (saveur ECS supportée).
ECS passer à DeH :
public pool ECS can migrate to a DeH host (supported ECS flavor).
DeH supports the BYOL (Bring Your Own License) mode. The tenant user can leverage DeH to save money on licensing costs. The tenant user can bring existing licenses of Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Office, etc.
DeH adds another layer of computing resource isolation to tenant, and the workload on the dedicated host won’t be interfered by the workload of another tenant.
The isolation of physical host will help the tenant user to meet the compliance regulatory requirements.
Dedicated host can be provisioned or released in minutes and will be charged on demand.
Computing resource isolation scenarios
Not related to applications, this scenario addresses the isolation concern of tenant.
The applications need to run on dedicated hosts to get high performance or the tenant has organization regulations that the applications can’t run with workloads of other tenants on the same host.
Application scenarios :
Workloads isolation compliance, Better control of physical resources usage for High Performance Computing.
Bring your own license (BYOL) scenarios
RHEL, SUSE LES, Microsoft Windows Server, etc.
The tenant already has purchased the Microsoft software and wants to bring them to cloud.
Application scenarios :
Run Microsoft Windows Server with Software Assurance on cloud without paying license fees.
