The current health crisis brought with it the challenge of how to allow office employees with desktop computers to work from home without any prior preparation. One French construction company has found the answer.

Essential administrative services first

The current health crisis and lockdown measures suddenly put the progress of many projects around the world on hold. Like other public works companies, a large French group in charge of port, airport and rail construction was forced to reorganize itself in order to continue operating. The situation has had a direct impact on its employees at head office, who started working from home with no forewarning.

The staff members play an essential role in managing the allocation of teams to construction sites that are still operating and providing critical administrative functions including HR, payroll, accounting and communicating with suppliers. In order to fulfill these roles, the employees needed to access their usual company data and business applications. So how could we organize this for employees with desktop computers who remained on the company’s premises?

Your fully secure home office

The teams from Orange Business provided the customer with an innovative and secure solution, providing remote access to their computers. Hosted in the cloud in a Citrix environment, Flexible Workspace Remote Access allows employees to access their company workstation environment via the Internet from their computers, tablets or mobile phones, without the need for a VPN. “Users click on a URL link to access the login window. Rapid deployment of a sustainable solution

Called on at short notice, Orange Business teams were able to install the software on the company's terminals and set up the secure cloud platform that provides remote access within five days. Laurent Dorchies, Account Manager, gives his initial feedback. “More than 20 employees are currently using the solution simultaneously, which proves how reliable and easy it is to use. It can easily be expanded for other users both in France and abroad, as well as to other company applications, if necessary. The customer will keep the solution in the future to enable its employees to access the company’s resources remotely at any time.”
